Simpson showed off her sleek swimsuit physique on Instagram July 14, where she referred to herself as “Jessica Johnson.”
Jessica has every reason to be proud after losing 70 pounds on a low-carb diet since last summer. Simpson told USA Today her diet features high-quality proteins like salmon and chicken, fresh vegetables, and lots of salads. She also avoids processed foods and limits sugar.
Jessica also exercises almost every day. Simpson’s pre-wedding workouts included six-mile daily walks, yoga and gym workouts with her longtime trainer, Harley Pasternak, creator of the 5-Factor Workout DVD.
Harley told People Jessica’s workouts combine 10 to 20 minutes of cardio exercise, 20 to 30 minutes of resistance training, and lots of flexibility moves.
Pasternak, author of The Body Reset Diet, also trains Halle Berry, Megan Fox and Lady Gaga.
In the two weeks leading up to her wedding, Simpson reportedly followed a vegan diet to accelerate her weight loss.
‘Women Relate to My Weight Struggles’
Jessica, who gained about 70 pounds during both her pregnancies, previously confessed her weight gain made her depressed.
Ironically, Jessica said her weight problems are part of the reason she’s so successful with her clothing line, which boasts annual sales of $1 billion. Simpson said women relate to her because she’s not naturally skinny and has weight issues, just like many of them do.
“I have been every size on the planet and I understand women,” she told Forbes. “I definitely go up and down with my weight, and I’m really honest about it. If I’m five pounds heavier, if I’m 50 pounds heavier, or five pounds lighter, I just don’t think it should define who you are.”
Simpson said she is glad she never caved in to the extreme pressure to resort to starvation diets or other unhealthy measures.
“I was proud of myself throughout that period for not doing every crash diet and trying to get as skinny as I could, or not eating,” she said.
