Dr. Oz: Jorge Cruise’s Carb Cycling Diet Spurs Weight Loss

Dr. Mehmet Oz revealed how you can use a carb-cycling diet to accelerate weight loss, flatten belly fat and prevent mood swings on the July 22 episode of the Dr. Oz Show.

Dr. Oz’s guest was fitness expert Jorge Cruise author of Happy Hormones, Slim Belly.

Jorge said you can lose 7 pounds in 7 days and consistently shed 2 pounds every week after that by carb-cycling, or eating low-carb for two days a week and high-carb the other five days.

Cruise told Dr. Oz his diet works with — not against — women’s natural cravings for carbs. Cruise previously revealed how you can use carb cycling to lose 18 pounds in two weeks on The 100 Diet.

Carb-cycling is a concept also recommended by fitness expert Chris Powell, star of “Extreme Weight Loss.”

Alternating between high-carb and low-carb days ensures you don’t feel deprived and boosts your metabolism for consistent weight loss, said Powell, author of Choose to Lose: The 7-Day Carb Cycle Solution.

Cruise said carbs give women the serotonin boost they need to even out their hormones, so cycling carbs not only promotes weight loss, but makes you happier:

  • On the low-carb days, consume no more than 100 sugar calories.
  • On the high-carb days, eat no more than 500 sugar calories a day.
  • Substitute all flours with low-carb flours like coconut flour, almond flour, and flaxseed flour.

Dr. Oz said the carb cycling diet is effective for women in their late-30s to mid-50s because they suffer dramatic hormone swings both during menopause and in the 15 years leading up to it.

On a separate segment, Dr. Oz discussed uterine fibroids and weighed the pros and cons of surgery. He also revealed how a low-glycemic diet can ease fibroid symptoms without the need for a hysterectomy.
