Dr. Oz: Prevent Cancer With Green Tea, Coffee and Peaches

Dr. Mehmet Oz said green and oolong tea, coffee and peaches are three natural ways to dramatically cut your risk of cancer on the Aug. 21 episode of the Dr. Oz Show.

1. Oolong tea and green tea. Dr. William Li, president and medical director of the Angiogenesis Foundation, said you you can slash your ovarian cancer risk by 82% by drinking green tea or oolong tea.  A study by Autralia’s Curtin University confirmed these findings.

Green tea and oolong tea have the highest concentration of flavonoids, which are natural cancer fighters. Dr. Oz said drinking 4 cups of green or oolong tea can kill cancer cells before they start.

Green tea also contains EGCG, an antioxidant that has been shown to burn fat and protect against the free-radical damage that causes aging and cancer.

2. Coffee. Another way to prevent cancer is to drink coffee, which is rich in antioxidants. Dr. Li said drinking three cups of black coffee a day can lower your liver cancer risk by 50%. Li cited a study done by the Mario Negri Institute in Italy, which showed that the antioxidants in coffee starved liver-cancer cells by cutting off their blood supply.

Coffee also reduces your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. You can drink either caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee. But make sure you drink black coffee (without added milk or sugar) to get the full cancer-prevention benefits.

3. Peaches. Finally, a third natural way to prevent cancer to eat peaches. Research shows that peaches contain cancer-fighting polyphenols that prevent tumors from developing in your breasts. Dr. Li said eating two servings of peaches every week can cut your breast cancer risk by 40%.

Diet Supplement for Summer Weight Loss

On a separate segment, Dr. Oz said you can block fat and calorie absorption by taking a weight-loss supplement called FBCx, which flushes fat from your system.

Dr. Oz said FBCx is a soluble fiber that binds to the fat we consume and can eliminate 500 calories a day. FBCx is especially helpful for those times when you overindulge.

On a previous episode, Dr. Oz discussed the weight-loss supplement Meratrim, which combines the fat-fighting properties of the herb sphaeranthus indicus and the flower Garcinia Mangostana.

Dr. Oz had asked 30 audience members to use the Meratrim supplement for two weeks and report their results. Amazingly, all the women lost an average of 3 pounds and 3 inches off their waists after taking Meratrim. Dr. Oz said for best results, do the following:

  • Take 400mg of Meratrim 30 minutes before breakfast and dinner.
  • Walk 30 minutes a day.
