“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg is fitter than she has been in years after her recent 35-pound weight loss.
Goldberg unveiled her slim-down on the season 18 premiere of “The View,” which debuted Sept. 15. A dramatically thinner Whoopi credited celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito’s Pound a Day Diet for her weight loss.
The first crisis came when the 5-foot-5 Goldberg noticed her weight had climbed to 217 pounds. Goldberg, who has steadily piled on weight over the years, said she decided then and there to lose weight and take control of her health.

Whoopi started following Rocco DiSpirito’s Pound a Day Diet and has since lost 35 pounds. DiSpirito’s “Pound a Day Diet” is a low-carb Mediterranean-style eating plan that involves calorie cycling. Rocco said it can help you lose a pound a day every five days without plateaus.
In the first week, dieters consume six low-carb, protein-rich meals totaling 850 calories on weekdays and 1,200 calories on the weekends. The following week, you consume more calories, but every week the diet changes, so your body never gets used to it, helping you avoid the inevitable weight-loss plateaus that frustrate so many people.
DiSpirito has credited his “Pound a Day Diet” for his own 50-pound weight loss. The 6-foot-1 Rocco slimmed down from 230 pounds to 180 pounds by overhauling his diet, and now boasts an impressive 10% body fat.
“The ‘Pound a Day Diet’ is as high-velocity as a weight-loss program can get,” said Rocco, who also wrote the bestseller, Now Eat This! Diet.
“Only liposuction provides faster results. I did the research. I know it works better [than liposuction] because I personally tested it on over three dozen people.”
