Angelina Jolie Will Retire From Acting After Few More Films: Will Focus On Directing

angelina jolie retireAngelina Jolie will definitely retire from acting within a few years and is happy to step away from the limelight.

Angelina, 39, said directing is her first love, and she plans to focus on that in the coming years.

“I’m happier when I get to put a camera on another actor and watch them do great work,” Jolie told Variety.

Angelina, who’s one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses, said she’ll act in a few more films before retiring from acting to concentrate on directing.

“I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera,” she said. “I’ll do a few more [movies first]. I’m about to direct something with Brad and myself.”

Jolie is shooting “By the Sea” with co-star and husband Brad Pitt, in which they play a married couple on a trip to France. The couple met on the set of their 2004 blockbuster, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Angelina married Brad in August 2014 in a fairytale wedding ceremony at Chateau Miraval, their sprawling wine estate in the South of France. The couple are the parents of six children.

Jolie said living in Provence, France, is perfect for her family, although she admits she has trouble relaxing. “I’m not very good at relaxing,” she said. “I can’t stay put. I read, write, negotiate films, I carry my office around with me.”

Jolie is doing well after undergoing a preventive double mastectomy in February 2013 after genetic testing revealed she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer and a 50 percent chance of contracting ovarian cancer.

As a result of her mastectomy, Angelina’s breast-cancer risk has dropped to under 5%. Jolie’s mother, aunt, uncle, grandmother and grandfather all died from cancer, forcing the Oscar winner to take the radical step of preemptively removing both her breasts.

Angelina, who has been a United Nations goodwill ambassador since 2001, discussed how her charity work has changed her outlook on life in Notes from My Travels.
