Miranda Lambert: I Was Shocked My 20-Pound Weight Loss Was Such Big News

miranda lambert weight lossMiranda Lambert is stunned by the amount of attention she received after her 20-pound weight loss last year, Examiner reported.

Lambert, who debuted her weight loss at the 2013 CMA Awards, never realized her transformation would generate as many headlines as it has, and said people should stop judging women by their bodies and weight.

“Everybody’s making this big, giant thing about [my weight loss],” said Miranda. “It’s way too much focus on women’s bikini photos, and I hate it. Why do we care? I want women to love themselves whatever they’ve got going on.”

Lambert said she feels insecure about her body just like any other women, and is glad that she’s more toned after losing weight. “When you have to walk out there in front of thousands of people, it does feel good to know that your sh*t’s not jiggling,” said Lambert, 31. “I’m just like anybody else, insecure and scared of looking bad or being criticized.”

Miranda credited a portion-controlled diet and rigorous circuit-training workouts for her amazing makeover. Lambert cut her portion sizes in half and substitutes her usual breakfast of bacon and eggs with a nutrient-rich green juice.

During the past year, Lambert’s three-year marriage to fellow country superstar Blake Shelton has made headlines, as tabloids claimed the couple was on the brink of divorce.

Miranda has slammed the divorce speculation, saying she relies on Shelton to keep her calm when she’s down or anxious. “I’m not sunshine and roses,” she said. “Blake’s the happiest person on the planet. He pulls me out of my darkness. Literally, everything is the best about being married.”

Lambert also admitted she suffers from chronic anxiety. “I’m always anxious,” she said. “I will worry myself into oblivion. I was trying to make everything regimented, and it caused too much stress.

“I learned everything doesn’t have to be perfect. That sometimes it’s OK to say, ‘I don’t want to be the boss today. I have PMS. Bother someone else.’ I like things better flawed anyway.”

Lambert, who has sold more than 5 million albums, recently dropped her fifth album, Platinum, which won album of the year at the 2014 CMA Awards.
