Lisa Vanderpump celebrated her 54th birthday on the Feb. 17 episode of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and was thrilled with the surprise party her loving husband, Ken Todd, threw for her.
Despite juggling a multi-million-dollar restaurant empire and starring on two hit reality TV Shows (the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Vanderpump Rules”) Lisa looks fit and fab at 54, thanks to a low-carb diet and daily exercise, Examiner reported.
The 5-foot-5 Vanderpump, who said she weighs about 120 pounds, said daily workouts is critical for over-40 fitness.
“I think the key over 40 is to exercise regularly,” said Lisa. “You need to step it up with exercise at that age.”
Vanderpump also tries to follow a low-carb diet, specifically limiting carb intake at night to deter middle-aged weight gain. “One of my secrets is to cut out the carbs at night and never drink too much,” said Lisa.
Low carb diets accelerate weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, explained obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Lisa says maintaining a healthy weight, regular Botox and exfoliation are her top beauty secrets. “The goal is to keep your weight stable, so it doesn’t fluctuate all over the place,” said the “RHOBH” beauty.
“I do a bit of Botox and filler. I use retinol acid to keep the skin exfoliating. Otherwise, I’m pretty low-maintenance.”
Vanderpump says controlling stress is also important for overall health. “At 20, these kids don’t have worries,” she said. “In your 40s, you think, ‘What did I bother worrying about when I was younger? I should have just walked around naked!’ ”
Despite her wealth, Lisa also does her own makeup and hair due to her hectic schedule. “I do my own hair and keep myself together,” said Vanderpump. “I’m a business woman and restaurant owner, so I’m busy.”
