Sam Smith’s 14-Pound Weight Loss In 2 Weeks Was Due to Paleo Style Detox Diet

Sam Smith lost 14 pounds in 14 days on a Paleo-inspired detox diet.

British singer Sam Smith credited a 14-day Paleo-inspired detox diet for his 14-pound weight loss.

Smith, 22, has been documenting his weight loss on Instagram, where he raved about nutritionist Amelia Freer, Examiner reported.

“Three weeks ago I met a woman who has completely changed my life,” Sam wrote. “Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food. Everyone go check out her incredible book, and start to live healthy.

Smith added: “It’s not even about weight loss it’s about feeling happy in yourself. Love you Amelia and thank you for making me feel so happy inside and out @ameliafreer #eatnourishglow.”

Freer, author of Eat Nourish Glow, champions a gluten-free Paleo-style diet that consists of high-quality proteins such as organic eggs, free-range chicken and low-starch vegetables.

Amelia Freer doesn’t like labels, but avoids cow dairy, alcohol, processed foods, sugar and grains in her diet, all similar to Paleo principles. Freer promises easy, natural weight loss and improved energy if you follow the principles in Eat Nourish Grow.

The Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today, and has a huge celebrity following, including Megan Fox and Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds with the low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit.

Research suggests the Paleo diet accelerates weight loss, reduces blood pressure, and prevents cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, and even Alzheimer’s.

A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates the Paleo diet is twice as effective as other diets for promoting weight loss and reducing belly fat.

“Clinical trials have shown the Paleo diet is the optimum diet that can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, markers of inflammation, help with weight loss, reduce acne, promote optimum health and athletic performance,” said professor Loren Cordain, author of The Paleo Diet for Athletes and The Paleo Diet Cookbook.

Health expert Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution, said Paleo isn’t a fad diet because the emphasis is not on calorie restriction, and it provides a healthy balance of protein, vegetables and high-quality fats.
