Giuliana Rancic Lost Last Embryo: Denies Anorexia, Claims Cancer Drugs Caused Weight Loss

Giuliana Rancic, who froze four embryos after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, said the surrogate carrying her last embryo has miscarried.

“It was painful,” Giuliana told People April 1. “We were so optimistic with this last embryo. We thought, ‘This is definitely going to work. This is our last shot.’ ”

Giuliana and her husband, Bill Rancic, welcomed a baby boy, Duke, in August 2012 via a surrogate. Giuliana said she may consider adopting.

“We’re open to everything,” Rancic says of her next move. “I think adoption is a beautiful gift you’re giving each other. And it’s funny, I’m even more open to [adoption] than I was before. Because I think to myself, ‘I love Duke so much, if I couldn’t take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him.'”

Meanwhile, Giuliana denied she’s suffering from the eating disorders anorexia or bulimia, attributing her dramatic recent weight loss to the cancer-suppressing drugs she has been taking since 2012, Examiner reported.

Rancic admits she has become too skinny, and claims she eats a lot. “I look in the mirror and it’s hard for me,” said Giuliana. “I am really thin. I eat more than any of my friends. I eat a very robust, healthy, balanced diet and dessert almost every night.”

Giuliana, 40, previously credited a fast metabolism and good genes for her fat-free physique.

“I eat a lot and I take walks and I have a faster metabolism,” Rancic told HuffPost Live in 2013. “I always thought it would catch up to me and it hasn’t quite yet. I’m not trying to be cocky. I’m just trying to be honest.”

However, fans questioned Rancic’s “fast metabolism” excuse, pointing out that metabolism usually slows down with age, while she has gotten progressively thinner over the years.

Giuliana was accused of being anorexic during the 2015 Golden Globe Awards and the Grammys (in January and February) after users barraged social media with remarks about her fat-free frame.

“My dad was married to an anorexic and looked shockingly similar,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “Pls. get some help!” Another fan compared Rancic to the late singer, Karen Carpenter, who died of anorexia at age 33.

“It’s Karen Carpenter all over again,” said one fan. “Giuliana’s husband and parents need to call an intervention. Because of her skeletal frame and big head, her teeth protrude, making her look like a cadaver with an open mouth.”

Giuliana Rancic recently released her new book, Going Off Script. Giuliana previously wrote I Do, Now What?
