Jeffrey Dean Morgan followed a bizarre tuna weight loss diet to lose more than 40 pounds for the History Channel miniseries “Texas Rising.”
The 6-foot-2 Morgan, whose starting weight was 175 pounds, starved down to 130 pounds by eating one can of tuna fish a day, Examiner reported.
Jeffrey Dean decided to diet after producers asked him to lose 10 pounds to play the role of Deaf Smith, who has tuberculosis.
“He had a consumption of tuberculosis,” said Morgan. “I got there and I was probably about 175. I left and I was about 130. I ate a can of tuna fish a day.”
Morgan, who previously starred on Grey’s Anatomy, admits his bizarre tuna weight loss diet was drastic and totally unhealthy.
“I did it in the most unhealthy way possible,” said Jeffrey Dean. “I didn’t consult with a doctor or anything. We had said maybe I should lose 10 pounds, and I just kept going and going. By the end of the movie, I was just [moving] like a snail!”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan previously starred on the hit TV series Supernatural opposite Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles.
