British singer Sam Smith is skinnier than ever after his rapid weight loss on a low-carb Paleo-inspired diet.

Sam unveiled his jaw-dropping Paleo diet weight loss, along with a painful-looking sunburn, on Instagram July 20, Examiner reported.

Smith has been documenting his weight loss on Instagram during the past few months. Sam said celebrity nutritionist Amelia Freer’s Paleo-based diet helped him lose 14 pounds in 14 days.

Smith has since dropped even more weight. “Three weeks ago I met a woman who has completely changed my life,” Sam wrote in March.

“Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food. Everyone go check out her incredible book [Eat Nourish Glow], and start to live healthy.”

Freer, the author of Eat Nourish Glow, advocates a gluten-free Paleo-style diet that consists of high-quality proteins such as organic eggs, free-range chicken and low-starch vegetables, Examiner reported.

Amelia Freer avoids dairy, alcohol, processed foods, sugar and grains in her diet, all similar to Paleo principles. Freer promises natural weight loss and improved energy if you follow the principles in Eat Nourish Grow.

The Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today and has a huge celebrity following, including Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds with the low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit.

A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates the Paleo diet is twice as effective as other diets for promoting weight loss and reducing belly fat.

“Clinical trials have shown the Paleo diet is the optimum diet that can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, markers of inflammation, help with weight loss, reduce acne, promote optimum health and athletic performance,” said professor Loren Cordain, author of The Paleo Diet for Athletes and The Paleo Diet Cookbook.

Former biochemist Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution, said Paleo isn’t a fad diet because it doesn’t emphasize calorie restriction but instead focuses on a healthy balance of protein, vegetables and high-quality fats.
