Salma Hayek looks sensational, thanks to restorative yoga workouts and a high-fat diet that includes Paleo-style bone broth.
Salma, who has wrinkle-free skin and a tiny waist despite having gained 50 pounds while pregnant in 2007, credited Paleo bone broth and lots of healthy fats for her youthful beauty.
“I embrace [dietary] fat, the good fat,” said Hayek. “This is very important. And I make a bone broth you can look up on the Internet. It’s very good for your health and it’s full of collagen. When you drink it, it’s like fat.”
Other Hollywood beauties who embrace high-fat Paleo-style diets and bone broth are Kristin Cavallari, Jessica Biel and Shailene Woodley.
Shailene, star of the “Insurgent” movie series, has raved about the health benefits of bone broth. “Bone broth, I am telling you, is the s–t,” Woodley gushed. “It is everything.”
While Salma Hayek doesn’t follow a Paleo diet per se, she embraces many of its principles, including its emphasis on organic, unprocessed foods and healthy fats. “I think people are afraid of fat, and fat is your friend,” said Salma.
Hayek echoed the sentiments of obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, who says high-fat, low-carb diets such as the ketogenic, Paleo and Atkins diets promote rapid weight loss and boost health by encouraging the body to burn fat for fuel.
“Eat lots of fat,” said Dr. Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity. “There’s no problem with fat. In fact, saturated fat — the fat that we’ve been taught not to eat — raises your good cholesterol best of all the foods you can eat.”
Hayek’s other anti-aging beauty and fitness secrets include restorative yoga workouts and careful skincare, as Celebrity Health & Fitness previously reported.
Salma hates structured exercise and prefers to do restorative yoga, a gentle form of yoga that uses props to promote mindfulness and relaxation.
“Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that,” said Hayek. “I don’t have time to exercise. I am working. I’ve had some 20-hour [work] days.”
Salma continued: “I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long, so even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles.
“She taught me to tone [my muscles] without clenching them. You relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension. If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it can have.”
Restorative yoga helps you de-stress, improves sleep and benefits your entire body, said Gail Boorstein Grossman, author of Restorative Yoga for Life.
Hayek’s beauty secrets also include a rejuvenating lotion for burn victims that heals your skin.
“I use an ingredient called Tepezcohuite that’s used in Mexico for burn victims because it completely regenerates the skin, and there’s no one in the States who is using this ingredient except for us,” said Salma.
Salma added: “Some of the ingredients, when I took them to the American labs, they were like ‘How come nobody is using this?’ This is why I have no Botox, no peels, no fillings.”
Hayek recently launched her own line of anti-aging skincare and haircare products called Salma Hayek Nuance, for which she is clearly an incredible spokesmodel.
Salma, who has gotten even more beautiful with age, swears by the Nuance Correcting Spot Treatment, which she claims zaps acne and other blemishes.
“If you put it on at night, you have nothing the next day,” said Hayek. “It has licorice extract, so not only does it help take away the pimple, but it helps lighten the blemish.”
Salma has been married to French billionaire François-Henri Pinault since 2009. The couple has one daughter, Valentina, who was born in 2007.
Hayek said she has gotten happier and healthier with age because she has learned to savor and enjoy life more.
