Demi Lovato, who has battled anorexia, bulimia, drug addiction and depression, recently posed nude and makeup-free photospread for Vanity Fair.
Demi, who was recently fat-shamed, said she posed nude and insisted that her photos not be Photoshopped because she wanted to show she’s confident after battling body image issues and low self-esteem.
“In the past I suffered from eating disorders and I basically went from hating every inch of my body to working on myself and figuring out ways to love myself,” Lovato on social media. “I learned you can get to a place where you love the skin you’re in.”
Demi, who went to rehab in 2010, said her past struggles with anorexia, bulimia, alcoholism, cocaine addiction, drug abuse and bipolar depression inspired her new album, Confident.
Demi said posing nude without Photoshop or makeup for Vanity Fair was a way to mark her progress.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past day, it’s that life is too short,” said Lovato.
“I’m about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am. How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident?”
Demi, who once starved herself down to 88 pounds, is now more happier and healthier since being undergoing therapy and rehab, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
“It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don’t give a f*ck and this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that’s real, that’s liberated, that’s free. What if we do a photo shoot where it’s totally raw? Super-sexy, but no makeup, no fancy lighting, no retouching, and no clothing.”
Demi Lovato detailed her harrowing struggles with unhealthy weight loss, drug addiction, anorexia and bulimia in her bestselling book, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year.
