“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke has been crowned the Sexiest Woman Alive for 2015 by Esquire magazine.
A curvy 5-foot-2, Clarke isn’t your typical tall, model-skinny sex symbol, but has a worldwide following thanks to her star-making turn as Daenerys Targaryen on “Game of Thrones.”
While Emilia is most famous for “GOT,” she almost didn’t get the role because she was the wrong physical type, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
“My agent told the casting director, ‘I know the breakdown for this character is tall, willowy and blonde. [Emilia] is short, round and brown, but I’d like you to see her,'” Clarke recounted.
Clarke eventually cinched the role of Daenerys Targaryen, which has since catapulted her to international stardom.
Clarke is most known for her graphic sex scenes in Game of Thrones, which feature lots of full-frontal nudity and even a rape scene. Not surprisingly, Emilia said the graphic sex scenes are draining.
“Once, I had to take a little time out,” she said. “I said I needed a cup of tea, had a bit of a cry, and was ready for the next scene.”
Emilia previously played Sarah Connor in the film Terminator: Genisys. For that film, Clarke followed a sugar-free diet. “My diet was pretty strict,” she said. “I ate very clean … One cup of tea. No sugar, no cream.”
Clarke also did grueling gym workouts that included weightlifting, kickboxing, shooting guns, cardio exercise and stunt training.
Interestingly, Clarke turned down the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey because the part called for so much nudity — much more than GOT (if that’s possible).
Emilia said she stopped Googling herself after being fat-shamed by Internet trolls after she first appeared nude in “Game of Thrones.”
“I remember when everything first kicked off, I Googled myself,” said Clarke. “You just do, it’s instinct. But never again. It just takes that one person who says: ‘She’s a fat b*tch,’ and you’re like: “I’m a fat b*tch!”
