Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito has maintained his 50-pound weight loss with “The Negative Calorie Diet,” a plan that enables you to enjoy nutritious, delicious foods while losing up to 10 pounds in 10 days.
In his new book, The Negative Calorie Diet, DiSpirito says you can accelerate weight loss and slow down the aging process by eating “negative calorie foods,” which are foods that naturally help you to burn body fat and boost your metabolism.
“These whole foods are packed with fiber, so not only do you tend to eat smaller portions of them naturally, but you also stay fuller, longer,” wrote Rocco.
“Some even offer what is known as a ‘thermogenic effect,’ effectively boosting your metabolism to increase the rate at which your body burns energy,” explained DiSpirito.” And you can eat as much of them as you want!”
Examples of anti-aging “negative calorie foods” include cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts, apples, berries, celery, citrus fruits, mushrooms, leafy greens and nightshade vegetables, including peppers, tomatoes and eggplant.
Rocco said eating these “negative calorie foods” keep you young because they’re packed with anti-aging vitamins and minerals and curb hunger due to their high-fiber content.
With The Negative Calorie Diet, DiSpirito says you can lose 10 pounds in 10 days without hunger or deprivation.
But DiSpirito doesn’t just talk the talk; he walks the walk. At 49, the boyishly handsome Rocco is in the best shape of his life after losing 50 pounds several years ago.
The 6-foot-1 Rocco slimmed down from 230 pounds to 180 pounds by overhauling his diet, and now boasts an impressive 10% body fat, Examiner reported.
DiSpirito revealed his weight loss secrets in his No. 1 New York Times bestseller, The Pound A Day Diet.
Rocco has successfully maintained his weight loss for several years despite being around delicious food all day long. DiSpirito said eating a balanced, nutrient-dense diet has curbed his tendency to overeat.
“My recipes were carefully engineered using low-calorie density foods that are nutritionally dense and voluminous,” he said. “That means they are really good for you and there’s a lot of it, thanks to water and fiber — the magic pill for weight loss.”
Rocco said the most important he has learned during his weight loss journey and while writing his book is that you can stay in shape while eating your favorite foods.
“Healthy and delicious are no longer mutually exclusive,” said DiSpirito, who also wrote the bestselling, Now Eat This! Diet.
