Kim Kardashian’s 40-Pound Weight Loss Diet Details: To Lose 2 Lbs a Week On Low Carb Atkins

Kim Kardashian, who has lost 30 pounds since giving birth in December, has set an ambitious weight loss goal of 40 pounds in 5 months.

Kim is following the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet and will limit her daily carb intake to less than 40 net grams.

Kardashian will lose about two pounds a week on her Atkins 40 plan, said her Atkins nutritionist Colette Heimowitz.

“We can pace the weight loss at 2 pounds a week, so it won’t affect her breast milk and she gets adequate protein from chicken, fish and some meat,” Heimowitz told Extra.

Kim won’t be starving herself because Atkins helps you feel full due to its high fat content.

“On Atkins you can take in more calories than you would on a typical low calorie diet and actually lose more weight,” said Heimowitz, author of The New Atkins Made Easy.

Colette said Kim’s diet will feature mostly protein, vegetables and healthy fats such as cheese, and nuts and olive oil. She can also enjoy low glycemic fruits like berries.

“Kim’s also exercising, so she’ll sculpt her body with a personal trainer and lose 40 pounds of fat with us,” said Heimowitz. “And if it’s 2 to 3 pounds week, it will take a couple months.”

Kardashian gained 60 pounds during her second pregnancy, and wants to reach a goal weight of about 120 pounds. The 5-foot-2 Kim weighed 190 pounds when she gave birth to son Saint West in December 2015, and has since lost 30 pounds.

This isn’t the second time Kim will rely on the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet to slim down.

In 2014, Kardashian lost 56 pounds in six months by following the Atkins diet and limiting her daily carb intake to less than 60 net grams.

Low-carb, high-fat diets like the Atkins and ketogenic diets promote rapid weight loss by inducing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Low-carb diets keep blood sugar levels stable, which also enhances your mood, and prevents cravings, added Dr. Westman, who also wrote New Atkins For a New You.

Kim also exercised after giving birth in 2014, and wore a waist trainer several hours a day to shrink her uterus and narrow her waist and hips.

Waist-training, or the “Corset Diet,” is a weight loss trend some women use to slim down their tummies.

“This is a remarkable way to train your waist to be smaller,” said plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sinclair, who claims some of his patients have lost up to six inches.

Kim said she has been taking placenta pills to prevent postpartum depression and aid weight loss. Meanwhile, sister Kourtney Kardashian is hotter than ever after losing 45 pounds since giving birth to her third child.
