Kim Kardashian 30 Pound Weight Loss Wows NY Fashion Week: Low Carb Atkins Diet Secrets

Kim Kardashian flaunted her post-baby weight loss at New York Fashion Week Feb. 12, where she attended husband Kanye West’s Yeezy fashion show.

Kim, who has lost more than 30 pounds since giving birth in December 2015, looked noticeably slimmer. While Kardashian hid her body under long fur coats, her legs, face and waist looked less puffy than they were during her pregnancy.

Kim has been following the low carb, high-fat Atkins diet for the past 2 months, as Celebrity Health & Fitness previously reported. Kardashian has set a weight loss goal of 40 pounds, and has lost over 30 pounds so far.

Kim, who signed on to be a rep for Atkins, is following the Atkins 40 diet, which limits her daily carb intake to 40 net grams (i.e., total carbs minus the fiber content).

Kardashian gained 60 pounds during her second pregnancy, and wants to reach a goal weight of about 120 pounds. The 5-foot-2 Kim weighed 190 pounds when she gave birth to son Saint West in December 2015, and has since lost 30 pounds.

This isn’t the first time Kim is using the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet to slim down. In 2014, Kardashian lost 56 pounds in six months by following the Atkins diet and limiting her daily carb intake to less than 60 net grams.

Low carb, high-fat diets like the Atkins and ketogenic diets promote rapid weight loss by inducing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Low carb diets keep blood sugar levels stable and prevent food cravings, which helps with mental clarity and boosts mood, added Colette Heimowitz, author of The New Atkins Made Easy.

In addition to Atkins, Kim also exercised intensely several days a week and wore a waist trainer most of the day to shrink her uterus and narrow her waist and hips.

Waist-training, or the “Corset Diet,” is a weight loss trend some women use to slim down their tummies.

“This is a remarkable way to train your waist to be smaller,” said plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sinclair, who claims some of his patients have lost up to six inches.

Kim also said she has been taking placenta pills to prevent postpartum depression and aid weight loss. Meanwhile, sister Kourtney Kardashian is hotter than ever after losing 45 pounds since giving birth to her third child.

So with that said, you can’t tell us she’s lost all this weight and looks fabulous or “wows” when she covers her entire body up so we the people can’t personally make that decision.
