Miranda Kerr broke out as a model in 2007 when she joined the elite ranks of Victoria’s Secret Angels. Now 33 and the mother of five-year-old son Flynn, the Australian native has learned to keep a positive attitude no matter what life brings –and it’s brought her a lot.

She began modeling when she was 13, after winning an Australian magazine model search. For the past eight years, she’s occupied the upper ranks of the fashion industry, consistently making Fortune’s list of highest paid fashion models.

But she’s also endured setbacks along the way.

In 2003, while still a rising model, boyfriend Adrian Camilleri, an Australian financial broker, was convicted of defrauding his clients. Kerr lost a substantial amount of money, which she’d entrusted to him, in the scam.

She and actor Orlando Bloom wed in a high-profile marriage in 2010. They were victimized while a couple when Bloom’s Hollywood home was burglarized by the infamous “bling ring” gang.

The marriage collapsed in 2013, after the couple revealed they’d separated secretly not long after Flynn was born.

Miranda has since rebounded with Internet entrepreneur and Snapchat co-founder Evan Thomas Spiegel. They were engaged this past July.

In another frightening incident Oct. 14, an intruder scaled a wall at her Malibu home. He was confronted by her security guard before reaching her house.

The intruder stabbed the guard who shot the intruder several times. Miranda was not at home, according to gossip site TMZ.

Fortunately, her successes far outweigh her rough patches, and she radiates authenticity, positivity and gratitude according to the magzine.

She gained recognition in her native Australia as a swimsuit model for such brands as swimwear brand as Billabong, Tigerlily, Roxy and Billabong Girls.

Her career took off internationally after she moved to New York City.

She worked for more than a dozen top brands including Alex Perry, L.A.M.B., Betsey Johnson, Neiman Marcus, Seafolly Swimwear, Anna Molinari, Rock and Republic and Roberto Cavalli.

She came to epitomize health, fitness and beauty. She’s also always been comfortable in her own skin. She’s posed nude on numerous occasions, including a stunning nude photo while she was pregnant.

“My son is my favorite person in the whole world. The way that he sees the world is so beautiful,” she tells the magazine.

Over the years, she’s talked often about her workout and diet routine.

Miranda is devoted to yoga. She practices three to four times a week to increase circulation and blood flow.

She prefers morning workouts that includes a mix of Pilates and strength training with weights and resistance bands to elongate and tone her muscles.

As for diet, breakfast often includes hot water and lemon, green juice and eggs or avocado on gluten-free toast. She’ll have a chicken or fish salad with a side of fruit for lunch.

A typical dinner might include “quinoa salad with chicken cooked in coconut oil and turmeric, with a spinach and walnut salad,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. She generally tries to avoid sugar and wheat.

But above all else, she says, a healthy attitude is key.

“Sometimes living in a fast-paced world, we forget to do those simple things that really can bring so much lealing and happiness to us,” she says.

“What I like to do, pretty much every morning, is to think of things I’m grateful for. Even if it’s just the simple things, they’re the most important.”
