Demi Moore’s hospitalization was apparently triggered by a seizure that could be related to anorexia and substance abuse. She’d been spiraling downward for some time since a sex scandal ripped apart her marriage.
In cases of anorexia, seizures are not uncommon. The body becomes so mal-nourished it begins to shut down, and a seizure might be the first sign of that happening. In extreme cases of anorexia organs fail and death is possible.
Ashton Kutcher Hottie Details Tryst
A rep for the actress confirmed yesterday (Jan. 24) that the 49-year-old actress had been hospitalized after a 911 call was placed from her Los Angeles house. An emergency medical team rushed to her house, made a medical assessment and took her in. A rep later said stress was the cause.
“Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”
Moore was out earlier in the week partying with 23-year-old daughter Rumer. She apparently did not consume alcohol, but pounded high-energy drinks, which are loaded with caffeine. On Tuesday, Rumer, her child with Bruce Willis was spotted smoking a cigarette outside of the hospital.
Demi Moore: Ashton Violated Sacred Vows
Moore had been rumored to be suffering from substance abuse during her marriage to Ashton Kutcher, 33. He was caught in a sex scandal last year while partying in San Diego. Moore announced a divorce in November.
According to reports, Moore was with a friend at her home when she began shaking uncontrollably. Meanwhile, Kutcher has remained in Brazil, where is attending fashion week in Sao Paulo.
She collapsed after having an epileptic seizure… she has not taken care of her health at all lately and has lost a ton of weight,” a source told radaronline.
Moore has decided to pull out of a cameo appearance in the film about porn star Linda Lovelace. She was set to play feminist icon Gloria Steinem.
