Rachael Ray, the celebrity Long Island chef, has been caught up in a sex scandal involving husband John Cusimano, who reportedly was spotted frequently a Manhattan swingers club without her.
Cusimano allegedly has been a regular customer at Checkmate, a New York City “alternative lifestyle” club that caters to sex parties among it’s members, which is limited to “couples and single ladies.”
Cusimano, 45, has frequented the club at least six times, always accompanied by a female escort, The National Enquirer claimed in a shocking report. Apparently he’s been a regular member. He also allegedly frequented the club before his 2005 marriage.
The club boasts a selective membership limited to what it says are “youngish, attractive, vibrant, hip, fit, and well-dressed” males and females, according to its website.
The club, located on 56th Street, has a lounge area, a co-ed locker room, and a large “playroom” in the back with beds that can accommodate several people.
Cusimano works as an entertainment lawyer and plays in an amateur rock band.
Ray signed a deal with Oprah Winfrey and King World Productions to host a syndicated daytime TV talk show in 2005, after doing broadcasts on a local New York cable station. Her regular television show debuted in 2006 and skyrocketed in popularity.
Ray is a non-nonsense personality who likes to keep food preparation simple. She’s now reportedly worth $60 million. But she’s had more than one brush with controversy.
In 2007 and 2008, reports surfaced that her marriage was on rocky ground. The Enquirer, which is hit or miss in its reporting, claimed at the time she was heading for a divorce. But the court papers never materialized and they are still together.
