Kelly Osbourne suffered a seizure on the set of her E! show “Fashion Police” and was rushed to a hospital, where friends say she is doing much better. Someone in the audience helped with medical assistance until emergency rescue crew could arrive.
Osbourne, the daughter of heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, was sitting in a chair on the set when she suddenly announced that she didn’t feel well.
A moment later, she fell to the stage shaking and grimacing. Her co-host Melissa Rivers turned Kelly’s head. Then someone in the audience with medical training rushed up to help. The entire episode was witnessed by the studio audience.
Joan Rivers, who was on the set at the same time, told gossip site TMZ the she had just seen Kelly in the hospital and she was on the mend. “She is fine. We just saw her,” Rivers said.
Melissa was filling in for Giuliana Rancic when the incident unfolded around noon. The seizure had passed, and Kelly was fully cognizant by the time rescue personnel arrived, but she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Oddly, the rescuers covered Osbourne and her gurney in a white sheet, a move that usually signals someone has died. The paramedics, however, were apparently trying to shield her from the media.
Seizures can be caused by many things. Sometimes they are inexplicable and other times they can be an indication of a far more serious condition. It the first time she’s been known to suffer a seizure, according to TMZ.
Kelly was spotted with a temporary cast on her foot late last month after she sprained her ankle. “Got my shoe stuck in a bathroom drain,” she tweeted.
“I was faced w/ spraining my ankle or eating the toilet! Guess what I picked?” The injury is unrelated to the seizure.
