Elizabeth Hurley's Extreme Diet Secrets

Liz-HurleyBritish actress Elizabeth Hurley is known for her curvaceous figure, but as she gets older, she reveals that she has been forced to go to dietary extremes to keep toned body.

Following the birth of her son, Damian, 7, she revealed how she only ate one meal a day and often went to bed hungry to regain her pre-pregnancy shape.

When she hungers for dessert, she reportedly eats just one square of organic chocolate, or one tablespoonful of ice-cream. The 44-year-old actress, also says she cut out coffee and wine from her diet. Ouch!

“I used to drink an awful lot of coffee, but I was told after the age of 40 you have to be careful with coffee and wine.

“Apparently, that can be one of the reasons older women get bloated around their stomach,” she added.

Instead, Hurley says she’ll down a drink with vodka, although how that is supposed to be any better is problematic.

Red wine has about 83 calories per glass, or up to 100 calories for sweet wine. In contrast  80 proof  vodka has about  100 calories per 1.5 ounce shot.

But both are generally considered unhealthy because they are “empty” calories.

‘I don’t really like vodka that much but if I’m at a party I have a small one with a lot of fizzy water and a huge squeeze of lime. Initially it’s like medicine but I’ve got used to it now,” she tells OK magazine in England.

Hurley married Arun Nayar and they live full-time at her country estate in Gloucestershire

“Before Damian, I had time to think carefully about what I ate but it’s a lot harder once you’re a mum. I’ve had periods of just grabbing what I can standing by the fridge. Since moving to the country it’s got easier to fall back into better eating habits,” she says.

Today for breakfast I had two poached eggs, wheat-free pumpernickel and a cup of very strong tea,” she said.

The 44-year-old beauty is releasing her own line of low-calorie snacks and also credits them with her helping her remain in shape.

“I like to snack but there’s not a lot out there that isn’t fattening. All my products are under 100 calories a pop and I’ve actually lost weight since having access to them. Since getting the first samples, I haven’t had my hand in the bread basket or the biscuit tin where it quite likes to be!”

  • Seems really limiting, and she doesn’t mention what her workout routine is. Even though it doesn’t seem like the best approach she’s taking. I wonder if her line of snacks will be available in the US. Does anyone know?
