UK pop singer Leona Lewis is reportedly talking with Stella McCartney, daughter of famed ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, about launching an animal friendly fashion line. Leona also went Hollywood, buying an LA mansion, while her new album is No. 1 in Britain.
The ‘Happy’ singer recently met with designer Stella, who shares similar views to Leona on the use of animal products in fashion, to discuss the possibility of her releasing her own branded products
“I’m on a mission. I’d love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not so expensive, a friend told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, quoting Leona.
“There’s so much I want to do. I’ve always wanted to have my own fashion line, and that’s something I want to focus on next year,” Leona reportedly said.
Lewis, 24, a vegetarian, doesn’t wear suede, leather or other animal products and is public supporter of PETA, the anti-fur activist group that often features nude celebrities in their ads against the use of fur and animal cruelty.
Stella has been a long-time vegetarian, just as her father and late mother Linda McCartney were.
“Leona and Stella get on like a house on fire,” said the friend.
‘They met at the recent Children In Need charity show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. They are both vegetarians, don’t wear leather and are huge animal lovers. The line would be very animal friendly,” the friend said.
Meanwhile, Leona’s new LP Echo topped the UK albums charts Sunday (Nov. 22).
“I’m absolutely thrilled. I put my heart and soul into it, so it’s great to get this reaction. I spent nearly nine months recording it, so it’s so great to finally let everyone share and enjoy it,” the singer said.
The singer, who won the UK’s “American Idol” equivalent “X Factor,” recently bought a $2.5 million mansion in Los Angeles.
The Tuscan-style house boasts four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a separate guest wing across a tiled courtyard.
The house also has a sweeping staircase, pool with a waterfall and hot tub and parking for ten cars. There are also four outdoor entertaining areas.

Every year millions of animals are killed and their skins stripped off to produce animal fur. We must stop using the animal products in fur garments and protest against this animal cruelty. Alternative solutions of vegan look-alike furs should be promoted for compassionate and ecological reason.
