Alexander Skarsgård, 33, is set to begin filming the highly anticipated third season of True Blood later this month, and he reveals that the HBO series will contain a lot more nudity and sex. Hey, it sells. Besides Alexander is cool with it.
The naturally lanky Alexander, who has complained of being “too skinny,” stays fit by lifting weights and running.
“I’m extremely excited to get naked!” he said. We’re sure his fans share his enthusiasm. The third season of True Blood begins shooting in L.A. later this month.
When asked to describe his on-screen alter ego Eric Northman, Alexander says the bad-boy vampire is like a majestic lion.
“Someone as powerful and experienced as [Eric] doesn’t need to show what he is,” Skarsgård tells French magazine Générique. “He only has to whisper, and people listen and obey.”
Alexander adds: “I was inspired by a tv documentary on lions that I saw. The way the male moves–confident, graceful, calm and quietly menacing. Make a wrong move and you’re dead. In his heart, Eric is a lion, an animal.”
Of course, Skarsgård’s striking 6’4″ physical persona adds to his character’s mystique and sex appeal. But Alexander says Eric has a soft, sentimental side as well.
“[Eric] has a sensitive side, is passionate, and can be a valuable friend,” explains Alexander. “He does not like many people, but those he loves, he is very dedicated to.”

Skarsgård, who has been voted the Sexiest Man in Sweden for the past five years, is the son of Swedish star Stellan Skarsgård, 58 (Angels & Demons, Ronin, Good Will Hunting).
The Stockholm-born Alexander became an international sex symbol after being cast as the brooding Eric in True Blood in 2008.
The first season of the hit series received widespread critical acclaim and won several awards, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy.

You get me all excited to see a potentially even sexier version of Eric and then all that excitement comes crashing to a halt when I remember that it is currently December 2009 and True Blood season 3 starts June 2010. Heres hoping the next 6 months fly by!

As much as I’m excited that Alex is excited to be getting naked, I have to wonder if this is part of a ploy to placate Eric/Alex-lovers who are upset with the inconsistencies and extreme plot variations of TB.

I totally get that! I actually thought of him as a lion in the first episodes, season 2 aswell.
Alexander Skarsgard’s portrayal of Eric Northman does tend to remind one
of a “majestic lion”~but his looks also tend to remind one of something
cold and aloof~The mane of blond hair,the cool green/blue eyes as chilly
as the Baltic or Bearing Seas,the Icebergs of Alaska.
His height reminds one of a Majestic Golden Eagle on the wind,gliding along to heights and then diving to catch a meal in the chilly sea.
I hope he and Sookie will get together in season 3!
