Jane Fonda Ignores Own Advice on Plastic Surgery

Jane FondaJane Fonda deserves a medal for honesty and hypocrisy. She acknowledged having plastic surgery earlier this month to “freshen up” her face, even though she has campaigned against cosmetic procedures for women.

Fonda, 72, disclosed on her Web site this week that she had work done on her chin, neck and the bags under her eyes. “So I decided it would be good to get a new hair cut so people will think it’s my new hair,” she confessed.

“I was planning on blogging about it anyway so who cares? I’m writing a book about aging, so I couldn’t very well NOT talk about it.” she added.

“It’s been two weeks. I was in front of the camera all day yesterday and was photographed at [author] Eve Ensler’s luncheon nine days after the procedure so, obviously, it went well.

“I swore in 2000 I’d never have anything done again but this year I got tired of not looking like how I feel and I wanted a more refined chin line like I used to have so I changed my mind,’ she continued.

“I wish I’d been brave enough to not do anything but, instead, I chose to be a somewhat more glamorous grandma,” she said.

Oddly, Fonda is being paid to promote a L’Oreal anti-aging cream. Fonda also revealed last year that she is launching a new exercise DVD for baby boomers. She set to begin filming next month.

Fonda’s fondness for plastic surgery is long standing.

The two-time Oscar winner had breast implants while a young starlet, but had them removed 16 years ago, saying they made her feel “unwomanly.”

She has also undergone both a hip and knee replacement since she made millions of dollars from a 1982 aerobics video that launcehd a workout craze It sold more than 17 million copies.
