Fergie Tells How She Keeps Her Marriage Together (photos)

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie says she’s a “relationship kind of girl” and says her time with husband Josh Duhamel has taught her that once you move past the “lust,” growing together makes love even more meaningful.

Fergie, 35, has not only become a major pop singer, but she has also become a fashion icon. She covers the May 2010 cover of Elle magazine in a sexy Burberry dress and belt.

Being a star has made her fair game for the tabloids, and her marriage to movie hunk Duhamel raised eyebrows when reports surfaced that he cheated on her. But the two worked through the rumors and stuck together.

Duhamel recently revealed that he wants to have seven children with her. “I have always loved kids, I am happy with one, but I will take seven” he said.

The couple has also given some thought to adoption, according to a recent interview in OK magazine.

“I would love to adopt, especially the more you learn about the kids that are out there that need parents. I am a supporter of adoption.”

Here’s what the Fergalicious singer had to say:

On being grist for the gossip mill: “It has hurt me in the past when people say things like how ‘fugly’ I am or how horrible I look. I’ve had to learn not to give it such a high priority in life….

“Look, when you’re trying to juggle all of this in your life, sometimes you’re not going to look perfect. I don’t have time to get a facial every couple of days.”

On husband Josh: “You grow a deeper love for each other, besides the initial lust and falling in love and all of that. You come to know each other a lot better, you grow together, and it makes you love each other that much deeper.”

On  commitment: “I’m a relationship girl, a romantic. When I was younger, I used to be the cheater. I’m not talking about going all the way—I wasn’t doing that in high school! But I’d have boyfriends, and then spring break would come around and I’d be a little bit naughty.”

On junk food: “I’m not going to lie: There are times I play mind tricks on myself, like that the french fries are poison.

“With desserts, I’ll let myself have just one bite, but I’ll look like a freak when I’m eating it, like when I did Duncan Hines commercials as a kid, just savoring every morsel.”
