Jennifer Lopez, 40, is making a comeback since giving birth to twins, Emme and Max, and she’s rocking out in the best shape of her life. Now she reveals how she did it — a new diet she shares with stars like supermodel Gisele Bundchen and millions of European women.

The French diet plan  is sweeping Europe. The good thing is, you supposedly can eat anything you want, with a few catches of course.

It’s know as the Dukan diet and it’s become Amazon.com’s No1 best selling diet book, even though it won’t hit shelves until May 13. The book has just been translated into English.

Devised by nutritionist Dr Pierre Dukan 10 years ago, more than 1.5 million French women are on the diet and claim it works, according to the UK’s Daily Mirror.

“I just remember being pregnant and marvelling at the hugeness of every area of my body. I’d stand there naked and look in the mirror from all angles. I did marvel at how my already ample rear end was now humongous!” she says.

She worked out a lot to lose weight, but to lose the last 20 pounds, she knew she had t change her eating habits.

“I eat a lot less now than I used to. But I love bread and you’re not allowed bread with most diets,” she says.

The Dukan diet has four parts.

First is the attack phase, a protein-only diet –fish, eggs and non-fat dairy products– coupled with lots of water and a tablespoon of oat bran daily. This promotes rapid weight loss.

Eating proteins and avoiding carbs can slim as much as seven pounds in a week. If the goal is to lose more they are allowed to continue with the attack phase for up to 10 days.

From there comes the cruising phase. Pure protein days alternate with protein and vegetable days. This is designed to bring an average weight loss of two pounds per week.

Dieters say on this phase until they hit their target weight.

After that it’s the consolidation phase, designed to prevent the “rebound” effect that can occur after any rapid weight loss.

Fruit, bread, cheese and pasta are gradually reintroduced and Dukan allows two “pig out” means a week to keep temptation at bay, as long as they are balanced with a protein only day during the week.
