Joss Stone: I'm a Stoner, Drugs Are 'Fun'

josstoneJoss Stone, the UK singer, who rose to fame at 16 because of her sultry, blues-inflected voice, is determined to live a rock star life. She openly admits she smokes marijuana and says she is likely to “dabble” in other illegal drugs because the look like “fun.” Is she high, or just crazy?

The “Super Duper Love” singer openly admits to smoking cannabis and hasn’t ruled out dabbling with other illegal substances in future, even though she thinks they are “horrible.”

Now 22, the “Super Duper Love” singer has been widely criticized in her home country for glamorizing drug use, despite the recent deaths from drug overdoses of such celebrities as Michael Jackson, Health Ledger, Adam DJ AM Goldstein and Anna Nicole Smith.

Many attributed the move as an effort to hype her new album.

Stone said cannabis is less harmful than alcohol, and while she acknowledged that drugs are horrible, she said the also sound like “fun.”

“I might dabble now and then,” she declared. “I smoke cannabis, but I don’t think it’s really a drug. It’s more of a herb. I don’t regret saying that at all.”

Despite her views, Stone has been critical herself of fellow UK singer Amy Winehouse, whose drug fueled escapades on heroin and crack cocaine have become notorious. Winehouse however is attempting to get clean.

“I think it’s stupid,” she said of the singer.  ”Amy’s music is beautiful, her lyrics are f**king great, but she has to start loving the music more than she loves herself and the drugs. You’ve got to have a lack of intelligence to do that to yourself.”

“Amy’s not a kid, she makes her own decisions. If you choose to live in London, go to clubs every night… it’s going to take a toll.”

Stone said critics are lashing out at her because she is too honest.  ”I’ve been punished for that over and over again. Every time I say what I think I get s*** for it. But that won’t stop me from being an honest person.”

Stone shot to fame in 2003 after her debut album became an instant hit and she won two Brit Awards in 2005. In 2006 became the youngest woman on theUK Sunday Times “Rich List” with a fortune  estimated around $9 million.
