Katie Holmes said she hasn’t changed much during the past 16 years.
“I’m not so different than I was at 20,” Holmes told Red magazine. “I still buy too many jeans. I don’t stay stuck on anything too long. I mean, like, any emotion.”
Katie, who has been divorced from Tom Cruise since 2012, is a private person who rarely discusses her personal life.
Holmes said she rarely goes out because she’s terrified by the attention she might get on social media, which has made everyone with a camera phone a photo-journalist.
“I think that it’s a very interesting time for artists right now because of social media and camera phones,” said Holmes. “I don’t think you ever know how you’ll be portrayed. Any story can attach itself to your image.
Katie added: “I don’t pay much attention because I’d spend the whole time worrying. I just don’t go out much to avoid it.”
Holmes said she’s inspired by women and said women should encourage and help each other as much as they can. “Women are complicated, in a beautiful way, and they have lots of different roles,” said Katie.
“I’m inspired by the community of women it takes to help one woman succeed. It’s important to be supportive and have people you can call at 3am.’
Holmes added: “I have a group of friends I call, and my [three] sisters. If I’m thinking about my sister, she will end up calling me, it’s weird. Telepathic.”
Katie, who at 36 has barely aged since her 20s, previously revealed that her beauty secrets include Alterna Haircare products and Olay moisturizers.
Katie applies the Alterna Moisture Milk Leave-In treatment to damp hair, which she air-dries, saying it keeps her hair shiny and feeling like “cashmere” all day long. The treatment also repairs split ends, she said.

Holmes also occasionally gets facials, but said daily moisturizing and taking her makeup off before bed are her secrets for keeping her skin smooth and wrinkle-free.
