Jennifer Lopez is smoking-hot at 45, thanks to a mostly vegan diet and regular exercise. Lopez appeared on the Jan. 23 episode of the Dr. Oz Show, where she shared her anti-aging beauty, health and fitness secrets.
Lopez, who still does show-stopping dance performances to sold-out crowds, said it’s harder to recover from intense workouts now that she’s older.
“Because I still do a lot of shows, my body is different,” Jennifer told Dr. Oz. “I feel like I’m better in the sense that I can do everything I did in my 20s better now. But I have a bad neck from injuries and my lower back from all the heels all the time.”
Lopez said she feels more achy in the mornings than she used to, which is why she makes a healthy diet and exercise a part of her daily lifestyle.
“It’s just the different things that start aching a little bit, like when I wake up in the morning,” said JLo. “This is new. It’s just those type of things that’s been my kind of issue lately.”
Jennifer, who’s divorced from singer Marc Anthony, said her children (twins Max and Emme) have taught her a lot about life and true love.
“My kids came into my life and changed everything,” said Lopez. “Because they show you what real, unconditional love feels like. You learn that and then you start thinking about relationships in a different way. All of that happening at the same time got me to the short message of I haven’t been taking care of myself or loving myself.”
While Jennifer always projects a strong, confident image, she has struggled with low self-esteem and admits she felt unworthy of love.
“In a way, and I know that sounds crazy, like ‘Oh my god, Jennifer doesn’t love herself,'” said Lopez. “But the truth is when you do love yourself, you don’t allow certain things to happen.
“You can’t keep blaming everybody else for your relationship and what’s happening like, ‘Oh, the other person messed up.’ It’s like, ‘No, you’re doing something. You’re doing something wrong.’ So all of that stuff got me to thinking I want to take care of myself better, because I want to be great for my kids.”
Lopez, who has dated Ben Affleck, P.Diddy, was previously married to waiter/chef Ojani Noa (1997-1998) and to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003. Jennifer was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014.
The three-times divorced Jennifer discussed her past relationships and emotional evolution in her tell-all memoir, True Love. In “True Love,” Lopez revealed she was emotionally abused in past relationships. She now realizes that was a critical mistake.
“I’ve never gotten a black eye or a busted lip, but I’ve felt abused in one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally,” Lopez wrote.
Jennifer is flying high since releasing A.K.A., her eighth studio album. At 45, Lopez maintains her age-defying good looks, thanks to a dairy free, mostly vegan diet and rigorous 90-minute workouts with her trainer, Tracy Anderson.
“She does the Tracy Anderson Method, which includes muscular structure work and between nine and 13 different exercises that change every 10 days, and dance aerobics as well,” said Anderson, who revealed her weight loss secrets in the bestselling book, Tracy Anderson’s 30-Day Method.Anderson’s workouts with JLo typically combine high-intensity cardio dance exercise with light strength-training using body weight and high repetitions done with tiny hand weights (three pounds maximum).
In April 2014, Lopez credited a five-week vegan diet for her 10-pound weight loss. JLo is no longer 100 percent vegan, but sticks to a mostly vegan diet because it has motivated her to eat more vegetables.
Jennifer’s anti-aging beauty secrets include drinking lots of water, careful skincare and getting plenty of rest. JLo said water keeps her skin looking dewy and aids digestion and weight loss.
Lopez revealed all her weight loss, diet, relationship and happiness secrets in her tell-all memoir, True Love.
