Miranda Kerr: My Bikini Body Fitness Secrets Are Low Carb Diet and Yoga Workouts

Kerr, a former Victoria’s Secret Angel, maintains her fitness-minded lifestyle, no matter how busy she gets.

Kerr, who runs and boxes, said her daily workouts always involve a combination of yoga, low-impact cardio, resistance and functional exercise, as well as high-energy training such as boxing or running, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.

“I make sure I do half an hour of yoga in the morning so I’m feeling good,” said Miranda. “I try to do this little power-workout DVD, Pace Express by Al Sears, M.D., four times a week. You do intervals with moves such as lunges, squats and star jumps. It’s only 12 minutes, so it’s definitely attainable. And you feel like you’ve had a good workout afterward.”

Yoga promotes natural weight loss and reduces stress, according to Christina Brown, author of The Yoga Bible.

While it’s her job to maintain a hot bikini body, Kerr is so passionate about fitness she said she’d be a nutritionist if she didn’t model. Not surprisingly, Miranda easily lost the 40 pounds she gained during her 2010 pregnancy with son Flynn.

Green Juices and Daily Coconut Oil

Kerr typically follows a low-carb diet, which is the celebrity weight loss secret shared by Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Jennifer Aniston.

Low-carb diets like the Atkins, Paleo and ketogenic plans promote rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn body fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Jeff Volek, author of The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living.

Kerr usually starts off her mornings with a smoothie made of coconut water with goji berries, chia seeds, maca powder, spirulina and cacao. She also has a cold-pressed green juice every morning that includes kale, spinach, cucumber and celery.

Breakfast is usually eggs with sauerkraut and avocado, or oatmeal with honey and goat’s milk. For lunch, Kerr has grilled fish and a salad with kale, spinach, broccoli, fennel, avocado, pine nuts and feta cheese. And dinner is usually lentil soup and steamed vegetables or roasted chicken. miranda-kerr-victoria-secret-fashion-show-2006“I personally take four tablespoons of coconut oil per day, either on my salads, in my cooking or in my cups of green tea,” said Kerr. “I will not go a day without coconut oil.”

Research shows coconut oil has several key health benefits, including enhancing weight loss and promoting healthy skin and hair.

Miranda, who’s divorced from actor Orlando Bloom, has remained good friends with her ex-husband, and said she doesn’t let emotional setbacks affect her upbeat outlook.

“Happiness is a choice we make,” said Kerr. “No one can be consistently positive, but why not make the choice that makes you feel better rather than the one that drags you down?”

Miranda shared her secrets for fitness, health, success and happiness in her self-help book, Treasure Yourself: Power Thoughts for My Generation.

Miranda Kerr also has her own organic skin care called Kora Organics, which she launched in 2009.
