Christie Brinkley looks incredible at 61, thanks to a vegan diet, regular yoga workouts and careful skincare (details below).
At 61, Brinkley barely shows her age, thanks to her longtime vegan diet and regular exercise, Examiner reported.
“[My fitness secret is the] Total Gym,” said Brinkley. “I really do use it! It keeps me limber and able to get out there and do what I want to do, and be active.”
Brinkley also lifts weights and does yoga and cardio workouts, including spinning and running.
Yoga is anti-aging and promotes natural weight loss by reducing stress, building lean muscles and suppressing appetite, said Jennifer Aniston’s yoga teacher, Mandy Ingber, author of Yogalosophy.
Christie has also followed a vegetarian diet since age 12. Brinkley, who’s now vegan, has praised the weight loss and age-defying beauty benefits of the vegan diet. Christie recently launched her own vegan skincare line.
The anti-aging health and weight loss effects of a vegan diet are no surprise to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center.
“A diet of minimally processed foods close to nature — predominantly plants — is decisively associated with health promotion and disease prevention,” said Dr. Katz, author of Disease-Proof.
Beyonce’s longtime fitness trainer, Marco Borges, agrees. Free radicals [toxic molecules that form in the body] contribute to aging,” said Borges. A vegan diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, is full of antioxidants which help protect the body from damage by free radicals.
Marco, who shares his vegan diet and weight loss tips in his bestselling book, The 22-Day Revolution, said his vegan diet helped Beyonce lose 65 pounds six months after she gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in 2012.
The 5-foot-7 Beyonce, who once weighed 195 pounds, lost 65 pounds using Marcos’ vegan diet plan, and said it can do the same for you.
“I’m always trying new foundations: I like the ones from Bobbi Brown, Armani Beauty, and CoverGirl,” Christie told Redbook. “I also love Nars blushes in pink and peach.”
Christie’s makeup must-haves:
- Nars blush Mata Hari
- CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless foundation
- Laura Mercier eye pencil – special brown
- Coconut oil
Brinkley also exfoliates her skin every morning to slough off dead skin cells. “When I use my exfoliator, I go from the tip of my forehead, down my neck, décolleté and now I do the top of my hands,” she said.
Still, Christie admits she has a few wrinkles, in spite of her careful anti-aging skincare routine. And that’s okay. “I have crow’s feet,” Brinkley laughed. “That’s natural and not something to be ashamed of.”
