Lady Gaga and her fiance Taylor Kinney ran in the icy cold waters of Lake Michigan as part of the 2015 Chicago Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Gaga, Kinney and 4,500 other people stripped down to their underwear and bikinis to brave the frigid waters lining North Avenue Beach.

“Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics,” Lady Gaga wrote on Instagram. “It’s great to donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it.”

Gaga, who wore a baseball cap, even joked that her weave froze due to the freezing weather. “My weave froze!!” she said. “Taylor gave me his hat. I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake.”

Lady Gaga surprised everyone by announcing she and Kinney got engaged on Valentine’s Day. Kinney, 33, plays Kelly Severide on hit TV series Chicago Fire.

Gaga recently won high praise after bringing down the house with her stirring performance of the “Sound of Music” at the 2015 Academy Awards. Even Julie Andrews, who played Maria von Trapp in the hit 1965 film the Sound of Music, was stunned by Lady Gaga’s incredible voice.

Gaga, a longtime workout fanatic, has practiced yoga for years, and admitted she exercises even when she’s drunk, Examiner reported.

“I’ve got to work out every day, and I work out hung over if I am hung over,” she said. “It’s about the cross-training and keeping yourself inspired. I do a ton of yoga.” Yoga promotes natural weight loss and reduces stress, said Christina Brown, author of The Yoga Bible.

While Gaga wasn’t bothered by her weight gain, she was called out by the media over her fuller figure, prompting the petite singer to hit back at critics via Twitter.

“To all the girls that think you’re ugly because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who’s ugly,” she said.

Gaga also revealed on her blog that she battled bulimia for over 10 years, and encouraged fans to embrace their bodies without judgment.

“[I’ve had] bulimia and anorexia since I was 15,” she wrote on her blog. “My weight loss/gain since I was child has tormented me.”lady gaga weight lossGaga, born Stefani Germanotta, finally overcame bulimia after realizing the constant vomiting was damaging her voice. “I had to stop. Gaga underscored that young girls need to value themselves and not get caught up in self-destructive cycles of crash-dieting and self-loathing.

The pop icon said she has finally learned to love herself, flaws and all. “This is who I am,” she wrote. “And I am proud at any size.”

Gaga, who won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2009 album, Fame Monster, recently collaborated with legendary crooner Tony Bennett on Cheek to Cheek.
