Cameron Diaz’s anti-aging fitness secrets at 42 are lots of sex, a healthy low-carb diet and plenty of exercise.
“The fountain of youth: I guess it’s exercise, healthy diet, lots of water, lots of laughter, lots of sex. Yes, sex! We need that as human beings,” Diaz told Cosmopolitan UK. “It’s healthy, it’s natural. It’s what we are here to do!”
Cameron said regular exercise is a critical component to keeping her youthful. “You have to just do it,” Diaz said of working out. “Once you commit and really put in the effort, your body goes, ‘Oh, it’s not okay to be without this.’ People say, ‘My body rejects exercise.’ No it doesn’t. Your mind rejects exercise.”
Diaz maintains her hot bikini body by following a healthy low carb diet and combining running, strength-training, and Pilates workouts, Examiner reported.
Low-carb diets such as the ketogenic, Atkins and Paleo diets fuel rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat fuel, said Jeff Volek, author of the Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living.
Obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity, agrees. Westman has helped hundreds of morbidly obese people lose thousands of pounds on the low-carb ketogenic, Atkins and Paleo diets.
Cameron pointed out that you don’t have to deprive or starve yourself to look or feel your best. “Well-being is an equation,” said Diaz. “You don’t have to have the whole cake, you can have a piece.
Diaz, who’s married to Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, added: “Don’t deprive yourself. Have fun. Just be self-aware. If your equation is 80% good, 20% bad most of the time, then a little movement toward the center isn’t going to affect you much.”
While most people dread getting older, Cameron embraces the aging process, insisting she’s only getting better with age.
“My ass is definitely higher than it was when I was 20,” said Diaz. “This is the thing that people don’t understand: Take care of your body [and it will] get better!”
Cameron Diaz shared her weight loss, diet, workout, beauty and happiness secrets in her bestseller, The Body Book.
