Singer Sam Smith is just four pounds away from his goal weight after his 14-pound weight loss on a 14-day Paleo-style diet.

Interestingly, Smith said fat-shaming weight bullying hurts him a lot more than homophobic gay slurs, Examiner reported.

Sam said nasty remarks about his weight are more cutting because unlike being gay, losing weight is something he can control.

“If someone called me fat, that affects me way more than someone calling me a f–got,” said Smith, 22. “If someone calls me a f–got, I am gay and I’m proud to be gay so there’s no issues there. [But being fat] is something I can change.”

Sam, who has been overweight his entire life, began overeating to cope with loneliness and depression as a child. Before long, he was obese, unhealthy and had a huge gut.

“From a young age, food has controlled me, basically,” said Smith. “When I was at school and wasn’t having a great time or when music wasn’t going very well, I would eat, eat. Eating would make me feel better. When I felt lonely, I would eat.”

After years of being overweight, Sam adopted a low-carb Paleo-inspired diet based on the principles outlined in nutritionist Amelia Freer’s book, Eat Nourish Glow. Smith was stunned after losing 14 pounds in 14 days without starvation or deprivation.

Smith has been documenting his weight loss journey on Instagram, where he posted a skinny beach photo April 19. In the photo, Smith looks fit and healthy wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

The once sedentary Smith said his weight loss has motivated him to start exercising regularly and he’s thrilled to be just 4 pounds away from reaching his goal weight.

Amelia Freer champions a gluten-free Paleo-style diet that consists of high-quality proteins such as organic eggs, free-range chicken and plenty of vegetables. Freer avoids dairy, alcohol, processed foods, sugar and grains in her diet.

Amelia said her eating principles most closely resemble the low-carb Paleo diet, an alcohol-free diet that emphasizes healthy fats, high-quality animal proteins, non-starchy vegetables, and excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes, and processed foods.

Freer promises easy, natural weight loss and improved energy if you follow the principles in Eat Nourish Grow.

The Paleo diet has a huge celebrity following, including Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds with the low-carb Paleo diet, and Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush, who lost 30 pounds with Paleo.

Amelia Freer said her diet is not a weight loss program but a food philosophy that emphasizes nourishing your body with real food, not processed junk.

Sam Smith agrees. “It’s not even about weight loss,” he wrote. “It’s about feeling happy in yourself.”
