Lena Dunham showed off her recent weight loss in a pair of size small yoga pants and couldn’t be prouder of her slim-down.
Dunham had to borrow a workout clothes because she was late for Tracy Anderson’s exercise class in New York and was pleasantly surprised to be able to squeeze into a size small yoga pants.
“Late to @TracyAndersonMethod & forgot my workout clothes so had to snag a size large bra and size small pants (wrong in myriad ways),” Lena wrote on Instagram May 11. “But do we soldier on? Yes, yes we do because we want to be a strong & happy lady.”
Dunham then added the hashtag, “Large bra, small pants. Can’t lose.” Lena, a longtime couch potato who used to hate working out, recently revealed she began exercising to relieve her depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
“Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible,” Dunham said on social media.
Lena added, “To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it’s mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I’m glad I did. It ain’t about the *ss, it’s about the brain.”
Dunham, who also does acro-yoga, which combines yoga and acrobatics, credited the Tracy Anderson Method workouts for her weight loss.
Tracy, who lost 30 pounds just 6 weeks after giving birth to her second child, says women should strive for long, lean muscles that can only come from lifting light weights (three pounds maximum) at high repetitions.
Tracy’s exercise tips contradict the advice of most fitness experts, who recommend that women lift heavy weights and shouldn’t be concerned that weight-lifting will bulk them up.
“I have occasionally designed programs for men that incorporate kettle bells, but I would never recommend them to women, even for women who are fans of bulkier muscle lines,” wrote Anderson.
Tracy’s diet secrets include limiting processed junk foods, eating organic as much as possible, and not overeating. However, Anderson isn’t a proponent of calorie restriction or “detox” juice fasts, which she says will only result in rebound weight gain.
Anderson reveals all her weight loss, diet and workout secrets in her book, Tracy Anderson’s 30-Day Method. Tracy trains Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez, who’s hotter than ever at 45.
