Cher celebrated her 69th birthday on May 20, and looks fantastic, thanks to a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Cher’s anti-aging fitness and beauty secrets are a vegetarian diet and five-day-a-week workouts, Examiner reported.
Cher, who has repeatedly said “getting old sucks,” admitted it takes a strict diet and intense workouts to stay as young-looking as she does.
Cher doesn’t smoke, eat meat or drink alcohol, and makes working out a top priority.
“I don’t eat meat and I exercise around five times a week,” she said. “Getting your endorphins up is a great way to start your day and I’ve got loads of energy. If I ever try to play the age card with my trainer, she doesn’t go for it!”
The weight loss and anti-aging health benefits of a vegan diet aren’t surprising to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, as Celebrity Health previously reported.
“A diet of minimally processed foods close to nature — predominantly plants — is decisively associated with health promotion and disease prevention,” said Dr. Katz, author of Disease-Proof.
Beyonce longtime fitness trainer, exercise physiologist Marcos Borges, agrees. The more greens you eat, the more weight you will lose, said Fuhrman, author of The 22 Day Revolution.
Still, aging does take its toll. “It’s harder to do things,” said Cher. “I’ve beat my body up so badly, it’s amazing it’s still talking to me and listening to what I say.
“But I’ve got aches and pains everywhere.” Cher added: “I’ve been screaming at the top of my lungs at my family, ‘Work out! Work out! Old age is coming!’”
Cher, who has overcome her share of personal and professional challenges, says her secret to success is persistence.
“I feel like a bumper car,” said Cher. “If I hit a wall, I’m backing up and going in another direction. And I’ve hit plenty of f—–g walls in my career, but I’m not stopping. I think maybe that’s my best quality: I just don’t stop.”
