“Twilight” hunk Kellan Lutz was spotted walking around the Upper East Side in New York City June 15, looking as hot as ever.
The 6-foot-1 Kellan looked gorgeous in an all-black ensemble that accentuated his strapping 195-pound physique.
Lutz, a former Calvin Klein model, previously said his fitness secrets include a low-carb Paleo diet, CrossFit workouts and weightlifting, Examiner reported.
Kellan started following the Paleo diet and doing CrossFit in 2014 to get in shape for The Legend of Hercules. The chiseled heartthrob said the Paleo diet enabled him to reduce body fat and stay healthy despite hours of daily grueling training and a rough shooting schedule.
“I adopted the Paleo diet,” said Kellan. “It helped me because I had tons of energy. It made me even more healthy and able to stay sick-free and push, because I pushed myself quite a bit.”
The Paleo diet emphasizes high-quality animal proteins, fats, vegetables and fruits, and excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes, starches, alcohol and processed foods.
Paleo is the most popular diet today and boasts a huge celebrity following, including NBA superstar LeBron James, actress Megan Fox and country superstar Tim McGraw, who credited a low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit workouts for his stunning 40-pound weight loss.
Fitness expert Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution, said studies show the Paleo diet promotes weight loss, lowers blood pressure, and prevents cancer, diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s.
“Clinical trials have shown the Paleo Diet is the optimum diet that can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, markers of inflammation, help with weight loss, reduce acne, promote optimum health and athletic performance,” said Loren Cordain, author of The Real Paleo Diet Cookbook.
Kellan said eliminating sugar from his diet was hard at first, but he felt so much better afterward. “It was really hard deleting the candy from my system because I love candy,” said Lutz. “You really just notice that your body will adjust, and you feel healthier.”
Kellan is a longtime workout fanatic who runs, swims, lifts weights and does plyometric exercises. “I like to wake up with the sun around 6:30,” said Lutz. “I’ll just go for a run, drop and do some push-ups, run some more, do lunges, grab the rings, and do pull-ups.”
Kellan, who prefers to exercise outdoors using his body weight for resistance, was active from an early age.
Lutz played football in high school and even considered trying out for the Navy SEALs (who, incidentally, incorporate CrossFit into their training).
“I’m an action junkie at heart,” said Kellan, 30. “I love pushing myself to the limit. I don’t really have fears as far as heights, skydiving, or bungee jumping. I love mixed martial arts, weapons training, guns, knives, driving fast cars, and motorcycles. I love it all.”
