Singer Sam Smith looks almost half his size after dropping a ton of weight recently. Smith has credited a low-carb Paleo-based diet for his jaw-dropping weight loss.
Sam has not disclosed how much he weighs or exactly how many pounds he has lost, but based on before-and-after photo comparisons, Smith appears to have lost between 35 to 50 pounds, Examiner estimated.
In March, Smith revealed he lost 14 pounds in 14 days on a low-carb Paleo-style diet. Sam credited nutritionist Amelia Freer’s detox diet for helping him slim down and improve his health.
“Three weeks ago I met a woman who has completely changed my life,” Sam wrote in March.
“Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food. Everyone go check out her incredible book Eat Nourish Glow, and start to live healthy.”
Smith underscored that he has not been paid to promote Freer’s book.
Freer, the author of Eat Nourish Glow, advocates a gluten-free Paleo-style diet that consists of high-quality proteins such as organic eggs, free-range chicken and low-starch vegetables.
Amelia Freer avoids dairy, alcohol, processed foods, sugar and grains in her diet, all similar to Paleo principles. Freer promises natural weight loss and improved energy if you follow these simple diet principles.
The Paleo diet is the most popular diet around today and has a huge celebrity following, including Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds with the low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit.
Research suggests the Paleo diet accelerates weight loss, reduces blood pressure, and prevents cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, and even Alzheimer’s.
A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates the Paleo diet is twice as effective as other diets for promoting weight loss and reducing belly fat.
The Paleo diet can reduce the risk of heart disease, aid weight loss and prevent disease, said CJ Hunt, executive producer of the documentary The Perfect Human Diet and author of the how-to companion book The Perfect Human Diet.
Former biochemist Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution, said Paleo isn’t a fad diet because it doesn’t emphasize calorie restriction but instead focuses on a healthy balance of protein, vegetables and high-quality fats.
