Carrie Underwood showed her Calia fitness clothing line at New York Fashion Week in September. Carrie, a longtime workout fanatic, looks sensational after losing all her baby weight in record time with a vegan diet and cardio workouts.
Underwood, who launched Calia activewear in December 2014, designed the workout clothes to fit the busy lifestyle of today’s woman.
“It’s such a part of my life,” Carrie told Yahoo. “Not just the workout aspect of it, but the comfortable, cute workout-wear aspect of it. Because I truly do live in that [kind of clothing], as so many women do.”
Underwood, who gave birth to son Isaiah in February 2015, said becoming a mom has made fitness apparel a part of her daily life. I feel like it’s made it even more relevant to my life.
“Being a mom, there’s not a lot of extra time,” said Carrie. “Sometimes workouts just have to happen when they can. And if I’m ready for anything in what I’m wearing, that’s one less step. Afterward, I can go to the grocery store and I don’t feel like I have to go change my clothes because I’m a sweaty mess.”
That said, Underwood loves to sweat, and credits rigorous cardio workouts such as running for her rapid post-baby weight loss.
Carrie’s post-baby weight loss secrets are a vegan diet and rigorous workouts that combine cardio exercise and weightlifting, Examiner reported.
Underwood also loves to kickbox and does lots of calisthenics.
Carrie is a longtime vegan who followed a vegetarian diet during her pregnancy. Underwood returned to her vegan diet after giving birth to son Isaiah Michael Fisher in February.
Underwood said her go-to meal is zucchini noodles.
“I’ve been making a lot of zucchini noodles lately,” said Carrie. “And they’re so easy to make, you can buy one of those spiralizers for $15. I can make a big Tupperware thing full of them if I have a few extra minutes, and I’ll grab a big handful and put some sauce on it. That’s an easy, healthy go-to.
“Or you can buy stir-fry vegetables, fresh in a package — broccoli, cauliflower, carrots. You just add some sort of protein, so I’ll do tofu or a chicken/meat substitute.”
Underwood joins a long list of celebrity vegans, who credit the 100% plant-based diet for its weight loss and anti-aging health benefits. Other celebrity vegans include Beyonce, Shania Twain and Demi Moore.
Beyonce’s longtime trainer, Marco Borges, said The 22-Day Revolution diet helped Beyonce lose 65 pounds several months after she gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in 2012
The 5-foot-7 Beyonce, who once weighed 195 pounds, has since maintained her weight loss and looks better than ever.
Borges, who has trained Beyonce since 2007, said her mostly vegan diet is responsible for her sizzling body. “I am not naturally the thinnest,” said Beyonce. “I have struggled since a young age with diets and finding something that actually works, actually keeps the weight off, has been difficult for me.”
Similarly, Jennifer Lopez has credited Marco’s 22-day vegan diet for her 10-pound weight loss and age-defying beauty. Experiencing easy weight loss and improved health on a vegan diet isn’t surprising to medical experts like Dr. Joel Fuhrman.
“The more greens you eat, the more weight you will lose,” said Fuhrman, author of The End of Dieting.
Underwood, who shot to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2005, has undergone a dramatic transformation during the past 10 years.
The 5-foot-3 Carrie lost 20 pounds shortly after winning “American Idol,” and has since become a fitness fanatic who admits she obsessively counts calories and works out daily.
“My favorite thing is cardio,” Underwood said. “There’s nothing like a good run. I’ve run more this summer than I have probably ever [run before]. Before I’d feel like, “Oh my gosh, it’s too hot.” But now, I can’t wait to get out and sweat.”
