Self-Help Guru Wayne Dyer Dies At 75: Diagnosed With Leukemia In 2009

wayne dyer deadDr. Wayne W. Dyer, the author of 40 bestselling self-help books, died Aug. 29 at age 75. The cause of death was not given, but Dyer had battled leukemia since 2009.

Wayne’s family announced his death on Facebook:

“Wayne has left his body, passing away through the night. He always said he couldn’t wait for this next adventure to begin and had no fear of dying. Our hearts are broken, but we smile to think of how much our scurvy elephant will enjoy the other side.”

Dyer died in Maui, Hawaii, where he has lived for the past 15 years.

Wayne was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2009 but claimed he had healed it in 2012 with exercise, positive thinking and a remote “psychic surgery” performed by Brazilian medium João Teixeira de Faria, also known as “John of God.”

Dyer became a media sensation after releasing Your Erroneous Zones, in 2001. Wayne was a frequent guest of Oprah Winfrey, who said on his death:

“It was always a pleasure to talk to Dr. Wayne Dyer about life’s big questions,” Oprah tweeted. “He always had big answers. RIP Wayne. You brought the Light.”

After “Your Erroneous Zones” shot to No. 1 on the bestsellers list, Dr. Dyer followed up with a series of popular self-help books that offered advice on how to improve your life, health and spiritual well-being.

In his 2009 bestseller, Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering The Art of Manifestation, Dyer posited that your life is directly influenced by the quality of your thoughts, and you can tap into the manifesting powers you possess within you to create your ideal life.

In February 2015, Wayne Dyer published his memoir, I Can See Clearly Now, where he detailed his past as a lonely foster child who manifested the life of his dreams and touched millions of people around the world with his positive, can-do philosophy.

Dr. Dyer, who has been married and divorced three times, is survived by his eight children.
