Singer Shakira has a bangin’ bikini body and flat abs just 8 months after giving birth to her second child.
Shakira’s weight loss secrets are fat-burning cardio workouts with her longtime fitness trainer, Anna Kaiser, creator of the Happy Hour workout DVD. Anna also trains Kelly Ripa, who has a sensational bikini body at 45.
Shakira also followed a low-calorie diet and does Zumba dance workouts five days a week.
“I did Zumba throughout my pregnancy,” Shakira told Self. “That helped me not gain too much weight.”
The curvy 5-foot-2 Latina beauty also did yoga and calisthenics, focusing on lots of ab and glute work. Yoga promotes natural weight loss and reduces stress, said Christina Brown, author of The Yoga Bible.
Shakira, 38, who’s dating pro soccer player Gerard Piqué, 286, said she’s less judgmental about her body after having two kids.
“I don’t obsess over my flaws, because I see my body as a whole,” she said. “Besides, I think men appreciate confidence more than perfection.”
While Shakira is widely considered a sex symbol and was named one of the most powerful celebrities in the world for 2013, she suffered from body dysmorphia and low self-esteem for years.
Through therapy, the Colombian bombshell gradually learned to accept and love herself just as she is.
“All through my 20s I spent more time worrying what I didn’t have than thinking about what I did have,” said Shakira. “I wished that I was taller, had longer legs, slimmer hips, a smaller bottom, even straighter hair. Now I’m in my 30s, I’m very happy with who I am.”
