Jane Fonda still has washboard abs and a model-like physique at 78, thanks to a low-carb, low-sugar diet, yoga and plastic surgery.

Fonda put her flat abs on display in white ruffled pants at the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills, California.

Jane’s age-defying fitness and beauty secrets are a low-carb diet, yoga workouts and meditation, Examiner reported.

“I eat fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and chicken,” said Fonda. “I stay away from desserts. I try to minimize the carbs and stay away from sugars.”

Like many fitness fanatics, Jane exercises not only to look good, but to feel great. “I know what exercise has done to my life profoundly — not just my body, but my mind,” said the Oscar winner. “I do what makes me feel good.

Fonda added: “It’s important to exercise when you’re younger. It’s the No. 1 ingredient for successful aging. It makes a difference for all aspects of your life and your body.”

Fonda, who has made over 25 workout videos, revealed her workout secrets in her best-selling fitness DVD, Jane Fonda Prime Time: Firm & Burn Low Impact Cardio.

Jane Fonda, who has released 25 exercise videos, said her workouts keep her fat-free and toned at age 78.

Jane, who was named one of “People” magazine’s “Most Beautiful” women in the world, said she’s the happiest she has ever been.

“I feel lighter, I feel younger, I feel a greater sense of well-being,” said Fonda. “Not what I expected at all. Basically I’m pretty happy about [getting older].”

Fonda, who battled anorexia, bulimia and poor body image during her 20s, 30s and 40s, has adopted more laid-back approach to fitness now that she’s older, as Celebrity Health Fitness previously reported.

“I eat fish, chicken and eggs,” she said “I eat red meat maybe twice a week. But when you are older, it is very important what you eat because your cells regenerate more slowly, and also you put on weight more easily because you have less muscle than you used to, so every single calorie you put in your body has to count for something.

“I eat by color. I try to eat something dark green, dark purple, red, orange, yellow, white, because they all have different vitamins and minerals in them.”

Fonda readily admits she has gotten plastic surgery over the years. She had a facelift in her 40s and another one in February 2010. She also got breast implants when she was younger and recently had a chin lift as well as surgery to remove the bags under her eyes.

As she has gotten older, Jane transitioned from the rigorous, high-impact aerobic exercise she extolled during the 1980s to gentler, lower-impact workouts. Fonda does yoga, strength-trains, walks, cycles, and uses the elliptical trainer.

Jane shared her anti-aging diet, workout and happiness secrets in her memoir, Prime Time: Love, Health, Sex, Fitness.
