Mark Hamill credited a brutal low-calorie diet for his 50-pound weight loss for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Hamill’s strict diet excluded anything delicious but did help him lose 50 pounds for Star Wars 7, TheImproper reported.
“I’m on the ‘if it tastes good, don’t eat it’ diet,” laughed Mark, 64. “Look at what I’m eating now instead of potato chips and bagels,” as he gestured to a plate of vegetables and fruit.
Because both Mark and Carrie had gained a significant amount of weight since first starring in the Star Wars trilogy in the 1980s, producers made sure they had access to top-notch diet and exercise experts to slim down.
“Nothing changes,” said Carrie. “It’s an appearance-driven thing. I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up.”
Fisher, who weighed 105 pounds when she played Princess Leia, weighed 180 pounds before losing 35 pounds on the Star Wars 7 diet. While she complains about the tough weight loss regimen, Carrie looks fantastic and healthier.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hits U.S. theaters Dec. 18.
