Kim Kardashian has lost 17 pounds since giving birth to son Saint West on Dec. 5.

Kim’s weight loss secrets were placenta pills, a healthy diet and waist training, Examiner reported Dec. 15.

The 5-foot-2 Kardashian weighed 190 pounds when she gave birth and now weighs 173 pounds after her 17-pound weight loss.

Kim said her goal weight is 124 pounds, which means she needs to lose an additional 43 pounds. Kardashian has been taking placenta pills to aid weight loss and prevent postpartum depression.

Kim’s sister, Kourtney Kardashian, credited “yummy” placenta pills for restoring her health after her childbirth. Kardashian, who gave birth to her third baby on December 2014, called the pills “life-changing” and tasty.

“Yummy…Placenta pills! No joke,” Kourtney wrote on Instagram. “I will be sad when my placenta pills run out. They are life changing! #benefits #lookitup.”

Kim has not revealed what type of diet or workout she’s doing, but it’s likely she will follow the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet, which helped her lose 56 pounds just 6 months after she gave birth to daughter North in June 2014.

Kardashian’s Atkins diet consisted of 1,800 to 2,200 calories and limited daily carb intake to less than 60 grams. Kim’s daily menu combined proteins such as fish, chicken and meat and healthy fats like olive oil, avocados and nuts.

Low-carb, high-fat diets such as the Atkins and ketogenic diets promote rapid weight loss by inducing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Low-carb diets keep blood sugar levels stable and prevent food cravings, which helps with mental clarity and boosts mood, added Colette Heimowitz, author of The New Atkins Made Easy.

In addition to Atkins, Kim also exercised rigorously several days a week and wore a waist trainer most of the day to shrink her uterus and narrow her waist and hips.

Waist-training, or the “Corset Diet,” is a weight loss trend some women use to slim down their tummies.

“This is a remarkable way to train your waist to be smaller,” said plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sinclair, who claims some of his patients have lost up to six inches.

Kim’s sister, Kourtney Kardashian, recently lost 45 pounds after giving birth to her third child by following an organic diet, doing yoga and waist training.
