Kim Kardashian gave an update on her post-baby weight loss, sharing that she has lost 42 pounds so far.
The 5-foot-2 Kim weighed more than 190 pounds when she gave birth to son Saint in December 2015. Kardashian now weighs 148 pounds after losing 42 pounds on the Atkins diet.
Kardashian wants to lose an additional 28 pounds to reach her goal weight of 120 pounds, she revealed on her subscription app.
Kim’s weight loss secrets were the low carb Atkins diet, intense exercise and waist training, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
Under her Atkins plan, Kardashian is limiting her daily carb intake to about 40 grams a day.
This isn’t the first time Kim has relied on the low carb, high-fat Atkins diet to lose weight.
In 2014, Kardashian shed 56 pounds in six months by following the Atkins diet and limiting her daily carb intake to less than 60 net grams, Examiner reported.
Low carb, high-fat diets like the Atkins and ketogenic diets promote rapid weight loss by inducing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Dr. David Ludwig, a physician and nutrition professor at Harvard, agrees.
By reducing carbs and eating more healthy fats, you can accelerate weight loss and enjoy consistent energy, said Dr. Ludwig, author of Always Hungry? Conquer Cravings, Retrain Your Fat Cells, and Lose Weight Permanently.
In addition to Atkins, Kardashian also exercised intensely several days a week and wore a waist trainer most of the day to shrink her uterus and narrow her waist and hips.
This is a remarkable way to train your waist to be smaller, according to plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sinclair, who claims some of his patients have lost up to 6 inches off their midsections.
Kim has also been taking placenta pills to prevent postpartum depression and enhance weight loss. Meanwhile, sister Khloe Kardashian is hotter than ever after losing 40 pounds with a dairy-free diet, waist training, and exercise.
