Melissa Joan Hart flaunted her 40-pound weight loss in a glamorous red swimsuit in a new ad for Nutrisystem.

Hart, who lost 40 pounds in 2014 with the Nutrisystem diet, has maintained her weight loss for two years with diet and exercise.

“I’ve kept off my 40-pound weight loss and can’t wait for swimsuit season,” said Melissa Joan. “This red suit is one of my favorites. It’s sexy and playful, but still a little reserved. Perfect for an almost 40 year old!”

Hart’s weight loss secrets were a low-carb Nutrisystem diet and cardio barre workouts, Examiner reported.

Melissa followed a low-carb diet that limited pasta, rice, bread and potatoes, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.

Low carb diets such as the ketogenic and Atkins diets promote rapid weight loss by inducing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Melissa doesn’t totally deprive herself, and regularly enjoys her favorite foods without going overboard.

“One of my slimming secrets is to treat yourself,” said Hart. “It can’t be about deprivation. If I want to have a piece of cake or a slice of pizza, I do. Then I get back on track the next day.”

Hart also exercised daily by running, spinning, and doing cardio barre workouts. With a low-carb diet and consistent exercise, Melissa was able to slim down gradually after giving birth to her third child and feels better than ever.
