Supermodel Elle Macpherson recently celebrated her 52nd birthday, and looks as gorgeous as ever.
Macpherson maintains her smoking-hot bikini body with a low carb alkaline diet and daily exercise that includes yoga, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
Elle’s anti-aging diet, which excludes red meat, caffeine, wheat and alcohol, keeps her skin glowing and her body naturally lean.
Macpherson, a lifelong exercise fanatic, said she noticed dramatic health changes within two weeks of switching to the alkaline diet.
“I noticed changes in just two weeks,” said the mom of two. “I had more vitality, my skin wasn’t dry, I stopped craving sugar, my mood stabilized, everything became more balanced. A welcome byproduct was losing weight around my middle.”
The alkaline diet includes plenty of fresh green vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, spices, seeds and nuts. The theory is that eating a diet high in alkaline-producing foods will minimize acid buildup in our bodies (which fuels inflammation, aging, and weight gain).
When you ingest too many acidic foods, your pH levels get disrupted, causing weight gain and disease, said Dr Stephan Domenig, author of The Alkaline Cure.
Other celebrities who follow the Alkaline Diet include Kelly Ripa, Victoria Beckham and Kate Hudson.
The alkaline diet can transform your body and mind so you can embrace total health and well-being, said Marta Tuchowska, author of How to Lose Massive Weight with the Alkaline Diet.
For Macpherson, following a low-carb alkaline diet means eating less protein, more non-starchy vegetables and cutting back on coffee. She said she’s able to easily maintain her hot supermodel body without feeling deprived.
“Some of my favorite foods are spinach, beetroot, goat’s cheese, pearl barley, kale, quinoa, pine nuts, halloumi,” said Elle. “I eat fish, but no red meat or chicken.”
Low carb diets such as the ketogenic, Paleo and Atkins diets promote rapid weight loss by encouraging the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Macpherson also exercises every day, doing a combination of yoga, running, swimming, hiking, and cycling. “I can’t ever remember doing something physical and feeling worse,” said Elle.
Macpherson’s anti-aging beauty secrets include daily sunscreen to prevent wrinkles and age spots, as Celebrity Health Fitness previously reported.
“I exfoliate my face every day and my body twice a day,” she said. “I shower in the morning and the evening. I use a body brush, which boosts circulation, and I always moisturize afterward.”
Elle continued: “I wear broad-spectrum SPF daily. La Roche-Posay makes good sunscreens, and I also like Invisible Zinc, which is a physical sunscreen. And I wear a cowboy hat whenever I’m at the beach.”
Whatever she’s doing is working, because Macpherson looks better than most women half her age. And the best part is, she feels even better than she looks.
