Jessica Biel looks gorgeous and fit one year after giving birth to son Silas (who was born in April 2015).
Biel’s post-baby weight loss secrets were an organic Paleo-style diet and CrossFit workouts, as Celebrity Health Fitness previously reported.
Jessica’s trainer said breastfeeding and intense exercise spurred her rapid weight loss. Biel, a longtime fitness fanatic, also does CrossFit workouts, yoga, sprints and weightlifting.
Biel has always been outdoorsy and athletic. For cardio exercise, Jessica usually jogs for a half-mile and then does sprint intervals of 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter sprints.
“I’ve always been physical,” said Jessica, who’s married to singer Justin Timberlake. “I have no concept of what life is like without physical activity.”
Biel embraces an organic Paleo-style diet that limits processed foods.
“Fermented veggies and probiotics are also great for my skin and digestion,” said Jessica. “You can also buy shredded fermented vegetables at a health food store and sprinkle them over a salad or even eggs in the morning.”
Research shows the Paleo diet promotes natural weight loss, reduces blood pressure, and prevents cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, and even Alzheimer’s.
A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicates Paleo is twice as effective as other diets for promoting weight loss and reducing belly fat.
Clinical trials show the Paleo diet aids weight loss, prevents heart disease, lowers blood pressure, and reduces acne, said Loren Cordain, author of Real Paleo Fast and Easy and The Real Paleo Diet Cookbook.
Fitness expert Mark Sisson, a former triathlete, agrees. Studies show Paleo-style diets that limit sugar, refined carbs and processed foods can reverse type 2 diabetes, slow down aging, and enhance weight loss, said Sisson, author of Primal Endurance.
Other celebrity Paleos include actress Jessica Alba and “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello, who has has credited a low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit for his rippling physique. Joe revealed his diet secrets and workout routine in his bestseller, Evolution.
While Jessica Biel follows a healthy diet most of the time, she doesn’t deprive herself. “Do I eat dessert? If there’s something I want to try, I try it,” she said. “But I have a bite, not the whole thing.”
