Kate Hudson showed off her amazing bikini body on the cover of Shape magazine, where she revealed her diet, workout and weight loss secrets.

Hudson follows a mostly vegetarian alkaline diet and does Pilates workouts to stay in top shape.

“I’ve pretty much cut meat out,” Kate told Shape. “I don’t remember the last time I ate a steak.”

Hudson eats 5 small plant-based meals a day, including a protein shake for breakfast and a salad for lunch.

Kate said she loves to exercise because it keeps her mentally and physically healthy. While Hudson does yoga, runs and spins, her favorite workout is Pilates.

“Nothing makes me feel like I’m back to my body more than Pilates,” said Hudson. “When I go home and get on the reformer or the Cadillac, my body immediately goes back. I can see an instant shift.”

Kate has been doing Pilates since age 19, and loves how it lengthens and tones her muscles.

“It’s the workout my body really responds to,” said Hudson. “It’s all about alignment, elongating your spine, and strengthening your core. I also love TRX because it’s similar to Pilates. But Pilates is the best!”

Kate has maintained her 70-pound weight loss since giving birth to her second child in 2011 with a mostly vegetarian alkaline diet, as Celebrity Health Fitness reported.

“I eat alkaline,” said Hudson. “It’s no dairy, it’s no wheat, it’s gluten-free, no meat and no sugar. Everything digests better, your blood is [at a proper pH balance].”

Other celebrities who follow a mostly vegetarian alkaline diet are Kelly Ripa and Elle Macpherson, who both look sensational.

The theory behind the Alkaline Diet is that eating a diet high in alkaline-producing foods minimizes acid buildup in the body (the acid fuels inflammation, aging and weight gain).

When you ingest too many acidic foods, your pH levels get disrupted, causing weight gain and disease, said Dr. Stephan Domenig, author of The Alkaline Cure.

The alkaline diet can totally transform your body and mind, said Marta Tuchowska, author of How to Lose Massive Weight with the Alkaline Diet.

At 37, Kate Hudson is fitter, healthier and happier than ever. “I love my shape because I work really hard at it,” she said. “I honor my body by working out and seeing what it can do.”
